About Laura Lee

Before transitioning into her work as a writer, Laura worked as an academic librarian and researcher at four major universities for over 25 years.

In 2006, she transitioned into a freelance writing career with  investigative reports in American History Magazine, The CU-Boulder Alumni Magazine, The Erickson Tribune, Lydia’s Style Magazine, Wild West Magazine, and WOW, Women on Writing.

One of her favorite topics of discussion are the various fortuitous misfortunes many of us suffer in our 40s and 50s, changes like divorce, empty nest, and job loss which often lead to ever deepening levels of self-discovery, empowerment and personal transformation. Since 2008, Laura has authored a number of books, e-books, and workbooks:

A number of publications have featured Laura’s personal essays including: Absolutewrite.com, WritersWeekly.com, True Love Magazine, Journey Magazine, the 2010 bookIn Our Prime: Empowering Essays by Women on Love, Family, Career, Aging, and Just Coping, and the brand new 2012 book:  HEARTSCAPES: True Stories of Remembered Love.

With bachelor and master degrees in Chinese language and history, Laura spent years living in East and Southeast Asia.  In 1995 she earned an M.A. degree in transpersonal counseling psychology from Naropa University, and began providing specialized counseling for those struggling with midlife change.
